Yes I am

Eight months ago I wrote about my thoughts on becoming vegetarian which was for becoming vegetarian but not entirely one sided, I guess that post reflected my year long decision as to whether I should become vegetarian and my year long change and implementation of views on eating meat.
Its a touchy subject and I hate it when I'm asked why I'm vegetarian because I hate offending people and the majority of the world eat meat as well as the majority of my friends and family, and when I do explain why I'm vegetarian I tend to sound offensive especially as my usual response is "Its cruel and unnecessary."
You'd never put much thought into what is on your plate especially while you are busy eating it, but once you do start to think about the entire process of creating meat it becomes increasingly difficult to comprehend that this is okay and it becomes even more difficult to actually eat it.

But enough said, it is a touchy subject, especially as the majority of you reading may not be vegetarian and personally I love you x

Russel Brands Revolution

I cannot wait to walk into our local bookstore in the mall and pick up a copy of this, another one of Russel Brands great talents is writing and he goes so in depth, his use of words is incredible especially for someone like me who loves to read and write..

I love Mr Brands insight in the world, he encourages us to look at the world in a different perspective, though I'm not sure about Socialism it is true that we do have a lot of faults in our system that need to be addressed - he is also an amazing comedian which is like a bonus to the whole entire topic and gorgeous too - he is an incredible human being

And who can't resist a more political version of Aldous Snow

Gosh Eyebrow Pallate

If you are like me and like to do things right, and don't have a lot of experience with make up it is always a good idea to use kits or starter kits especially if you're new at say - eyebrows
We have all witnessed the dreadfulness of poorly done eyebrows which is why I had such a fear of starting the make-up necessity, I went out and bought a ton of alternatives- pencils but nothing has served me more than my Gosh eyebrow kit ~

p.s apologies for the terrible photography skills x

The deep diaries

My whole life I've had to keep composure and it's made me a stronger person.
But recently terrible things have happened, it seems one after the other in the space of three months,
two of which I'd had to bury deep down and not talk about.

I was in a state of limbo, to be honest I had no idea until I got out of it recently with the support of my family and now that I am I'm doing a post on it to help you.
Here is some advice and tips as to how I "woke up"
  • #talk Don't take after me - talk to anyone about what happened whether its a family member or a shrink - it's the simplest way to come to terms and make peace with what happend
  • #forgive Don't hold hate or resentment the only person it will bother is you, just accept what happened and people for who they are - as soon as you do this you will feel way better
  • #cry This is going against my principle but I think that having a good cry when nobody is around will help
Now that you've done that its time to move on..
  • #spring clean Spring cleaning my room has made me feel so much better, even though I was reluctant it was the first thing that made me feel better
  • #pamper yourself I had my prom/matric dance, so pampering myself was already necessary and it was the best thing I could have done to feel better and bring back my confidence
  • #go outside Get some sun, whichever, my family noticed that  I was spending a lot of time in my room and started to get worried, I was practically forced to leave my computer and it was the best thing they could have done for me
Last but not least.. listen to some London Grammar

and "keep it together"

Hello all its been a while
I have been incredibly busy accomplishing matric (who knew it would be so much work) which means that I have been neglecting my blog for a bit but I am working on something extremely exciting and I cannot wait to start it up once I'm done with matric, it may take some time but after much thought I think its time for a new blog. And this time I'm doing it right. I will be keeping this blog of course, this will remain my writerly feels blog but I think I got a little carried away with Being Female and it may have lost a bit of its purpose, but I believe I to be a great starting point for a new blogger on the block.
much love x

Am I vegetarian

Not entirely, when asked whether I'm vegetarian I tend to say no but I'm still well aware of the reasons behind vegetarianism and that it would probably be best to be a vegetarian, and I was vegetarian for a little while.
The problem is we are all human and it is in our nature to eat meat, in fact I could not get over the fact that it felt out of my nature not to eat meat so I stopped the process and carried on.
Eating meat is part of our diet, it is who we are, it is not unnatural to kill another beautiful creature in order to survive, but what is unnatural and sort of inhumane is that we kill and then eat another creature for enjoyment.

I'm not just talking about those terrible hunters who kill our rhino's or who go hunting deers with their guns, which does make me not want to be a human being, I'm talking about all  of us.
Yes, we are all deer killers, in our own context.
Myself included, who hasn't eaten Springbok biltong for the taste of it.
And I'm not judging anyone I know just as well as anyone how difficult it is to give in to our desires to consume.

Low self esteem issues of a blogger

So this will be another feelings post but I think that I need to express this because hundreds of other bloggers probably feel the same way.

I have been blogging for about one year and three months yet the only person I have told about my blog, that I know personally, is my mom and brother and I'm pretty sure they haven't read much of it, this is quite alarming as I absolutely love my blog, its like a child to me, yet I still can't pluck up the confidence to tell my friends about it, I didn't even tell my mom till two months ago, but that was simply because I wanted to blog freely without the knowledge that my mom could be disappointed in what I may have just said.

I also haven't put up a single photograph of myself, I'm not sure why because I have loads and I feel that it is important for you to see what I look like, I'm also dying to do a lookbook.

I also go weeks without posting anything, or leaving things in the drafts because I feel as though no one would want to read my content, even though I'd love to write about it I feel like people won't be as excited about whatever product or event I'm wanting to post.
I also have this itching feeling that I shouldn't post at all until I'm a bit older and I've got a bit more money.
Which is pretty stupid.

I have changed my blog hundreds of times, in a previous post I roughly explain why but I'm still not happy with my header or my name and I'm only finally happy with my background but I've got a feeling that that might soon change, I'm going to try to not change anything and just leave my blog as it is.

If you have any tips on how to be more blog confident please let me know xx

Being me..

Here's a bit more word indulgence/feels/word vomit...

I often find that I have to put many a post in the old drafts, usually these post are either extremely embarrassing, offensive, or a bit too personal.
Usually on a late night, such as tonight, I find myself needing to write something.. with the full knowledge that I don't have content that you may appeal to you..
That is when I get all sentimental and just..write..without planning it all out, this is basically my personal diary and I've word vomited it all apon you which is pretty unfair.. call it hormones if you like, I just love writing about anything and everything. I'm a writer. And sometimes I mix up my blog with the novels I keep hidden in the corners of my laptop.

here's a daisy for you

And let me notify you that this post will soon be in the drafts

New obsession: Marina and the Diamonds

This must be at least the fourth post I have done on music, which is not often in blogs, but I cannot express to you in any other way how much I love music and when I discover a new 'love' as in song or artist I have to share this gorgeousity

- If I were one day to be famouse, I hope that this will be my most favourable advice, cleanse wash tone and moisturise not only your skin but your life, your body. It seems silly and basic but in the chaos of ones make-up, clothes and false nails one forgets.

Your daily carbs intake, when minused with dietry fibre, should always be 20grams.

Drink water

Be fussy

Be a pre-madonna

Know your worth

If your not happy, do something about it.

Who are we really? Who are our individual selves?
Have you never wondered who you might be if you weren't influenced by what others may think of you and what seems to you as norm, when will we all be able to just breathe, without hiding behind our bedroom or apartment walls. When you are different, like me, and you'd like to be you without passing judgement or worrying whether others will realize how awkward you are in the end.
So this blog of mine has changed post by post, that's not because I am indicisive about my blog, but it is the reflection of how indicisive I am about my life.
Life is so short, short and sweet, I learnt that recently. Not only did the words of a girl in my class hit me like the bus of realization when she said that "Life is short, we could die tommorow" but also a dear family friend passed unexpectedly and incredibly sadly as he has three little children one twelve year old boy who I would imagine will soon become a troubled and rebeliouse teenager, he also has twins gorgeouse little children full of life and excitement.
So with this new realization, which I've been wanting to share with you as I hope it will help the odd reader, my life and my perception of life has changed.
And along with this "life is short, we could die tommorow" theory I say that we should just be. breath. stretch. think. overthink.

Whoever came up with the notion that overthinking is unhealthy may have been right but also may have been the most dull human being.

Learn, discover, stress, be careless, be carefull, who ever you'd like to be, be you.

British Beauties

So I decided to share with you a few goods that my Nan brought back from England
I live in South Africa far far away from any major productions, so we don't get the range of goods (especially chocolate) that many of you do.
Although I can't complain too much, South Africa is slowly catching up in some of their stores, but this is nowhere near the ample range of choice of all the make-up and foundations in your make-up stores, or stores for that matter, or nowhere near the quality.
So I get blimen excited when my nan comes back with make-up from Boots (which is non-existent here) as well as my favourite chocolate (also non-existent here, and a lot more difficult to buy online).

My nan brought down my absolute favourite English chocolate: Crème Eggs
How do you Englishmen live, how are there still people living in England who are not obese or have diabetes, this chocolate I swear is the best thing that has happened to me, and I don't care if I shouldn't be having dairy products, what? with that thick chocolate layer surrounding thick creamy fondant that you can successfully eat with your tongue. Oh baby.

Another extremely interesting thing my nan brought down is a head rap thing meant for wet hair, well I have never seen it in my lifetime especially anywhere in South Africa and it is so convenient. No more using hundreds of giant towels which give you a headache while pulling your hair.

My nan also got me some make-up from Boots and the brands name is Collection, I heard that Boots is something like Clicks but a lot fancier and with a lot more products that are full of quality, nevertheless I absolutely love this foundation. This Lasting Perfection 16 hour foundation has so much coverage, in fact I have come to the conclusion that all good foundations from England covers extremely well.
Another Collections item is Waterproof Mascara, now I have no idea why South African companies hate eye make-up but there are hardly much to choose from, the quality is horrible and it is fricken expensive, basically a simple stick of mascara that doesn't promise much now costs more than my daily foundation..what! So I was oh so happy when my nan brought down mascara all the way from England just as mine was running out. But this is not just any mascara, just one swipe and it looks as though you are wearing false lashes, not only does it separate your lashes but I have never seen mine this long before and it looks amazing.

The Wall Cottage

I have my reasons for not posting a thing the past month or two and that is because I got my very first job!!
I worked for about six weeks at an adorable tea & cake shop,  called the Wall Cottage
